Home Office Expense Claims in Canada: What You Can Deduct — JCO tax tip card

Your home office isn't free real estate — the CRA lets you claim a chunk of your bills: a proportional share of rent, utilities (heat, electricity, water), internet access, and minor repairs. The math is simple: (office area ÷ total home area) × your bills.

Heads up: the quick flat-rate shortcut ended after 2022. For 2023+, employees use the detailed method — Form T777 plus a signed T2200 from your employer. Self-employed? You claim it on your T2125.
