Sneak Peek: JCO Books — The Accounting Software We Are Building for Our Clients
Confession time: we got tired of watching small business owners wrestle with accounting software that was clearly built for someone else — bloated menus, jargon everywhere, and a price tag that stings every month. So we did what any stubborn bookkeeping firm would do: we built our own. Meet JCO Books — the system our future clients will use every day. Here is a sneak peek at what is coming.
What our clients will see
JCO Books is designed around one question: what does a small business owner actually need to see? Not fifty menu items — just the answers that matter:
- Your own client portal. Log in anytime and see your financials — no waiting for month-end, no "can you send me that report?" emails. Your numbers, whenever you want them.
- Reports that speak plain language. Profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow — plus visual charts showing income vs. expenses month by month, so you can see how the business is doing at a glance instead of decoding spreadsheets.
- Invoicing without the headache. Create professional invoices, email them straight to your customer, and track what is paid, pending, or overdue. You will always know who owes you what.
- Receipt scanning. Snap a photo of a receipt with your phone and the details land in your books — no more shoeboxes, no more "where did that $40 go?"
- Built for Canada AND the Philippines. Multi-currency support (CAD, USD, PHP), GST/HST and VAT tracking, and reports shaped around what each country's businesses actually need.
- Works on your phone. JCO Books installs like an app on Android and iPhone, so your books travel with you — the market, the job site, the couch.
Why we built it instead of renting someone else's
Off-the-shelf accounting software is powerful — but it is built for everyone, which means it fits no one perfectly. We wanted something lean: the features a freelancer, a bakery, or a small shop actually uses, without the twenty tabs they never will. Because we built it ourselves, every screen can be shaped around real bookkeeping work instead of software-company priorities.
And here is the best part: it is free for our clients
Let us be crystal clear: JCO Books is not a product we sell. When JCO opens its doors and you become a bookkeeping client, access to JCO Books comes with the service — at no extra cost. No subscriptions, no per-user fees, no upsells. It is part of how we take care of your books, the same way a good mechanic includes the diagnostic check.
A quick note on timing: JCO is still in its brand-preview phase — we are building, learning, and preparing for a future Canadian launch, and we are not yet open or accepting clients. JCO Books is being built now so it is ready when we are. Want to be first to know when launch day arrives?
Join our newsletter — one short tax tip a week, and you will hear about the launch before anyone else.
